HUNTINGTON, Ind. (Forester Radio) — This past week for Rooted I interviewed Addison Agen, runner-up for NBC’s The Voice. This interview was a huge learning and growing experience in my interviewing skills.
First off, contacting Addison and trying to get the interview in the first place was a leap of faith. Professor Adam Widener has always told us however, it never hurts to ask. I have to admit now that he has always been right about that. Taking that leap and just trying to get in contact with Addison was a big step in the right direction.
After contacting Addison and receiving the email that I would be able to interview her the next week I began my prep time immediately. I researched way more for this interview than I ever have before which helped me tremendously during the interview. Because I did my research, I was able to pull facts out of my head to help me transition from question to question. It also helped me not to ask the same questions she had answered already in other interviews. By researching it helped me be able to tell her story from a different angle making it more interesting than just another interview for her and anyone listening.
During the interview, I felt so prepared and so thankful for a Prof like Adam Widener to help me organize my thoughts and questions before hand. As expected, Addison is beautiful inside and out. She has so much wisdom for her age, and she truly is as sweet in person as she was on The Voice.
